RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Mendip for a Supported Housing Worker.

The purpose of this role is to provide high quality direct support and housing management service to single homeless people across 2 location with low to medium level support needs, living in designated properties, to ensure that clients move-on sustainably to greater independence within defined timescales. Ensuring delivery of a consistently high quality, safe and person-centred accommodation and support service.

Salary: £24,500 per year

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract - 6 months - with the possibility to become permanent 

Location: Shepton Mallet - Mendip

Additional information:

  • Travel required across Mendip to cover accommodation across 2 locations
  • Participation in an on-call rota (1 in every 4 weeks), £100 per week when on-call
  • Participation in a rostered system of working with shifts between the hours of 08:00 AM and 20:00 PM, weekend work required (every other weekend) 

Main Duties:

  • Delivery of a high-quality off the street accommodation service for individuals rough sleeping within Mendip
  • Complete holistic assessments for clients leading to the development of support plans which meet individual client goals
  • Build positive and effective working relationships and agreements with relevant external agencies
  • Give clients advice, information and provide an enabling service for that they can be signposted to, and access, appropriate services to develop independence
  • Provide an effective Housing Management service for clients and identified properties
  • Carry out, within reason, any other duties necessary to achieve the smooth running of the service and undertake other organisational duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities

Essential Requirements:

  • A valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle – business insurance will be required for roles involving travel for work
  • Understanding of the causes of homelessness and social exclusion and approaches which seek to address these
  • Ability to undertake Assessment and Planning for people with complex social needs which includes taking a lead on multi agency working and partnerships
  • Previous work with homeless people and/or other socially excluded people
  • Working as part of a team in a social or health care setting
  • Working with people with complex needs and challenging behaviour
