Secondary ASD Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £75 - £100 per day

GSL Education is looking for a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to support secondary school children with autism spectrum disorders in Newcastle.
Job Summary: The main role of an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) Teaching Assistant in a secondary school is multifaceted and crucial in supporting the educational and social development of students with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support ASD students in understanding and engaging with lessons.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt materials and activities according to student needs.
- Foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
- Assist in the development of social skills and independence in students.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with ASD or similar needs.
- Understanding of the educational strategies and communication methods used in supporting students with special needs.
- Patience, creativity, and a commitment to child development.
Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
