Accelerate Teaching is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive Special Needs School in Kirklees. This rewarding role is set to commence in September 2024 and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

We are looking for an experienced individual who is committed to providing high-quality support and who possesses a genuine passion for working with children with special needs. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient, and have a proven track record of fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to the assessment and review of students' progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning experiences.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Support the development of students' communication, independence, and life skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a special needs setting is essential.
  • A deep understanding of various special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students' needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare would be advantageous.
