Supplier Quality Engineer (Composites)

Contract: 3-6 months 

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer specialising in composites with industry experience in Automotive/Motorsport. In this role you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our supply chain quality standards. You will be responsible for evaluating, qualifying, and monitoring suppliers to ensure they consistently deliver components and materials that meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Qualification: Lead the qualification process for new suppliers, ensuring their capabilities meet our technical and quality standards for composite materials and components used in motorsport applications.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Establish and maintain metrics to monitor supplier performance, conducting regular assessments and audits to ensure adherence to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain to enhance quality, reduce defects, and optimise processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise in composites and motorsport engineering to support supplier development and problem-solving activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of supplier evaluations, audits, non-conformances, and corrective actions. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field - Preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in the motorsport industry or Autmotive, with a focus on composite materials.
  • Understanding of composite manufacturing processes, materials properties, and testing methods.
  • Experience in conducting supplier audits, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.) and 8D Principles
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA) and PLM systems.
